Department of Malayalam is a part of Nattukal Government Arts and Science College. Malayalam classes started in 2005 and the subject is taught as a second language for BA Functional English (1st year, 2nd year), B.Sc Microbiology (1st year) and B.Com (1st year). The main objective of studying Malayalam language is to provide a general understanding of various literary periods, works, general characteristics of poems and writing characteristics of writers in the field of Malayalam language, literature and culture, and to get acquainted with different and unique creative literary forms. Besides academics, the Department also organizes extra-curricular activities like Seminars, Assignment, Debates, Workshops, Literary Competitions and Readings of literary works etc.
